Save Hundleton Junior Football
We at Hundleton Juniors have been in existence for many years now, encouraging
over 165 children of all abilities to participate and enjoy the game of football, whilst promoting team spirit and fairplay.
Hundleton Junior Football Club is now faced with a dilemma, there has been now for several years correspondence going back and forth between the Club and Hundleton Community Council, mostly problem issues that the club has dealt with and overcome, now we are faced with another of these problems, which endangers the clubs very existence, so we feel we need to keep you all updated and ask for your help and support.
To cut a long story short, Hundleton Community Council recently held a meeting where the councillors agreed to restrict the number of games we are able to play upon the community playing field to two games on a Saturday, currently we have six teams who use this field and have done so since the Club formed.
Under current Pembrokeshire league rules the only teams this decision will affect are the junior ones, U12’s to U16’s, so this leaves a maximum of one game and possibly no field time at all for the junior section of our Club on a Saturday morning.
This leaves us in the situation whereas not one team will be able to honour their fixtures issued by the Pembrokeshire league, also the impending fines that would follow will prove expensive and a route the Club cannot take.
This season playing upon the community field has cost the Club £1573 in maintenance costs, in addition to this we also have to contribute to a mower fund of the Community Council, although we have no use of this mower. Presently and for the last couple of years nobody has had the use of it, the field is cut using equipment owned by the junior football section, this includes the summer season where we have supported the Cricket Club and loaned them the use of the equipment to try and maintain the field.
This leaves us little alternative but to object and petition the Council to reconsider the position they have put us in and save the enjoyment these youngsters have on a Saturday morning upon the community playing field.
Please all get behind the Club, get in touch with us for information how you may help and show your support for the sake of the juniors.
